Netwalking Women is a great opportunity to do just that once a month. It’s a day of investing in you, your health and wellbeing; of putting yourself first and as the opportunity arises, doing business in a different way! But you don’t have to be a business woman – you can be a woman who enjoys the company of other women, a woman who has chosen to take a day out from her job to look after herself, a mum who is child free for a time and choosing to spend her day in this way.
Walking is a wonderful way to get some exercise, to see a new part of a city of a corner of the countryside. It’s a wonderful way to socialise and to network too. When you’re walking you don’t need to keep eye contact and this can be very useful when challending and difficult conversations are taking place. In all my years of walking with women I have observed the most frivilous and lighthearted conversations one moment and the next a very deep and serious discussion the next. Walking allows all of that.
At the end of the day you’ll –
- come away refreshed and with a clearer head having had a day in the fresh air
- you’ll have met great women
- you’ll have chatted and shared and learnt
- you’ll have enjoyed coffee and lunch stops and perhaps an after walk drink
- you’ll feel energised and exercised
- you’ll be looking for the date of the next event.
You just pay for each walk that you choose to go on, I have to warn you that this event could seriously affect your health and wellbeing for the better!
I loved Susannah Alexander’s comments from our November walk – “Here’s what I was up to today, and it was lovely, even in the rain. So many parts of London I have driven past, and never knew what was only a few metres away. Thank you, Heather Waring.”
Our July walk on Friday 14th sees us explore part of Hyde Park, the newly developed Paddington Basin and along the Grand Union Canal towards Kensal Green, one of the Magnificent Seven Cemeteries. We’ll start at Hyde Park Corner Tube station on the Piccadilly Line and there are a number of places to opt out should you need to do so. Plenty of variety in this walk.
Starting at 10.30 (so you can do the school run, if you need to) we’ll walk our usual 6/7 miles, have a stop for lunch and perhaps coffee too and for those who can, perhaps a drink at the end.
This is not a route march but neither is it a dander so purposeful walking really. This as you giving to yourself, valuing yourself and taking some time out.
For those signing up, a more detailed email will be sent the day before. You can purchase your ticket here.
Walks are usually on the 3rd Friday of the month and the dates for 2017 are –
