Women On Foot

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWalking is a great way to get your exercise, to explore new areas, to make new friends and to put the world to rights…..among many other things.

“Women on Foot” is a brand new walking group for 2017 and has come to be so that women who love walking have a group to walk with. It may be that you are wanting to get into walking more; cannot join our Friday walks so now you have a weekend option; would appreciate it as a training tool if you are coming on the Camino Experience or training for any other walking event and for those who live in and around the South East and for anyone else who is looking for an opportunity to walk more.

IMG_8298With “Women on Foot” we will walk monthly the plan is to alternate the days so that one month it’s on a Saturday and then the next on a Sunday or as far as possible.

Heather Waring at a crossroads

The aim is for these walks to be around 10/12 miles but for those building up mileage, where possible there will be opt out points so you can leave us when you have had enough ….. or your feet have.

Over the Summer we are planning to walk along the Thames at times out towards Reading, as well as getting started on the North Downs.

It’s the turn of the North Downs this month and we’re going to start this famous long distance path in Farnham and walk the 11 miles to Guilford.  I am reliably informed that this section is a gentle introduction, walking through rolling farmland and heathland on sandy soil.At times we will also be walking the route of the Pilgrims Way.

The plan as we move on through the summer and autumn is to walk the entire way section by section so if you want to say you’ve done it all start now.

Trains to Farnham leave from Waterloo Station and exact details will be sent to those signing up. As it’s a longish walk though and we want to enjoy it fully, we’re going to get an early start.

This is not a route march but neither is it a dander so purposeful walking . We will end before dark though. But as usual think of this as a day out and embrace this time for you and the fact that you are investing in your health, wellbeing and longevity as well as having fun.

Future monthly walks will be as follows
Sunday August 13th – Guilford to Westhumble (North Downs section 2 )
Saturday September 9th – Westhumble to Merstham (North Downs section 3)
Sunday October 28th – Merstham to Oxted (North Downs section 4)
Saturday November 25th

The cost is £20 including vat, find your tickets here
